About Me

This 2016-17 school year begins my 9th year as a classroom teacher. Over these years, I have taught all grades from third up to sixth! I have had such wonderful experiences in each and every grade level, but third is my favorite so far! I truly have a love for teaching and all of the rewards that this profession entails! This will be my third year teaching third grade in Oregon. I started my teaching career in Palm Springs, California, and moved to Terrebonne with my family in 2009. I enjoy the wonderful and supportive people in the community and am so proud to be joining the Terrebonne team!

Hobbies and Lifestyle

I spend my time, while not teaching, at home with my family. My husband and I have two children, both girls, ages 7 and 8. We spend our time together reading, playing, riding bikes, traveling, swimming, and enjoying the quality time we have together! I have also spent time coaching sports, particularly swimming!

Communication

I know that communication is key between parents, teachers, and students. I will be sending weekly newsletters home each Friday that will highlight upcoming events, talk about what we are learning in class, and will tell the homework for the week. These newsletters will be added to this site for your convenience.

Curriculum

Reading

Redmond School District is teaching the McGraw Hill curriculum titled "Reading Wonders." This curriculum was created using the new CCSS (Common Core State Standards) and will help us to reach all of our reading goals this year!

Math

We will be teaching the Common Core State Standards this year by using Ready Common Core as our curriculum. Exciting topics new to third grade include multiplication, division, and fractions!

Writing

Writing will be taught using the Reading Wonders curriculum to connect reading with writing. Also, I will include some of my fun favorite projects throughout the year!

Science, Social Studies, Health, and Art

This year we are teaching these subjects using "Story Line". We will first create a children's hospital and study body systems, health care, careers, maps, and we will write biographies and expository presentations. Later in the year we will learn about the Iditarod and state parks!

Volunteers

I would love to have you consider to help us as a community of learners within our classroom! If you have a special talent or skill that you would like to share, please let me know! I love to have parents come whenever they can whether it be weekly, monthly, or for special occasions or events. Please submit the volunteer application in the office and let me know your interests and availability! Thank you!
